My Life as an A.D.
Later
in 2012, I was invited to join Magic City already filming
in Miami, Florida for a couple episodes. What a beautiful
show for Starz set in the 1950’s. Was a wonderful cast set
in a classy hotel with all that happened in Miami back then.
The
new year, brought about Welcome To The Family, a new
pilot. A fun half hour Comedy shooting at Sony Studios. The
pilot got picked up so we began the season getting about 9
episodes shot and starting to air but was then cancelled.
I was offered a position on a new show for ABC Family called
The Fosters. This was a one hour drama. I was back
over at Warner Bros. filming as well as locations down by
the beach as the story took place in San Diego. The Fosters
took me through to the next year, 2014.
Summer
came along and some great friends of mine invited me along
to their European vacation. As no jobs were on the horizon,
off I went to France and Italy for an unbelievable trip. As
the trip was coming to an end, I got a call to see if I was
available for an episode of Bones. Was great to return
to work!
Bones
was fun to basically stop in for a few weeks, meet some great
cast & crew. I did return for another appearance when
they shot their 1950’s episode which was really cool to do.
In
early 2015, I decided it was time to make my own movie. So
began my journey making Red
Dog & Bates, a documentary about two men who walked
from Los Angeles to Mexico City in 1958/59. I spent the first
part of this year interviewing Red Dog and other people around
Los Angeles, even making a trip to talk to one of his friend
in New Mexico.
That
summer of 2015, Marvels
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. called asking me to join them
for Season 3. It was an amazing world of VFX, time travel
and superhero action adventure! I stayed on the show for 2
seasons, was a great team and a great experience.
Before
I returned to Marvels
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4, 2016, I traveled
to Mexico to follow the path of Red
Dog & Bates w 3 Mexican Filmmakers, we used their
journals as a treasure map to find people and places they
had walked passed on their journey long ago. It was an experience
I’ll never forget.
I
returned to Mexico on my two breaks during Season 4. More
filming for Red
Dog & Bates, finding more treasures of people
and places from the past.
Summer
of 2017, a new show for NBC was starting, AP
BIO, a half hour comedy that would be right down the
street at CBS Radford Studios. A hilarious cast and a fun
crew and set.
When
the season was over, I went right to Angie
Tribeca, a silly comedy. I had the honor of meeting
Carl Reiner on one of my episodes. Also got to work again
with Angelica Huston.
Spent
the summer working on the documentary until I got a call to
fill in on Seal Team.
This was another quite different show but as always there
is crew and cast that you’ve worked with before. We flew over
the water filming in San Pedro and ran through the alley of
Los Angeles in the night.
The
second season of AP
BIO began right after Seal
Team. Was so great to be back with the team of cast
and crew again. So many laughs we had and really enjoyed being
together.
As
AP BIO was
finishing the second season, I was invited to join the production
of Animal Kingdom, Season 4. John Wells Productions,
think I finally found my home if they’ll keep me.
Animal
Kingdom is a crazy story, lot of action and chaos,
but behind the scenes is a lovely cast and crew and it’s just
a nice place to go to work.
In the summer of 2019, I began a show for Disney +, Diary
of a Future President. We shot in Manhattan Beach
Studios. This was payback for the many shows I had done right
near home! It’s lovely down there though. This show has so
many talented kids in and we had a ball over the summer working
together.
Black
Monday, season 2, was a show I finished off the year
with. A Showtime half hour comedy set in the 1980’s about
the stock market crash. Doesn’t sound like a comedy but it’s
the most hilarious show I’ve worked on! Don Cheadle, Regina
Hall and Andrew Rannells and so many more talented actors.
Such a fun time!
I
must say, 2019 rocked as far as the shows I was invited to
work on and the cast and crew I met. I feel very lucky.
Tail
end of 2019, I had a break, traveling to Seattle to meet the
newest member of my family, my great niece Aviana. Was wonderful
to have the time to spend with her.
With
the new year, brought a new season of Animal
Kingdom, Season 5! Back with this great cast and crew!
We were about halfway done with the seasons when the pandemic
happened. All over the world places shut down and movie business
completely stopped. We will begin again…when it’s safe…when
is that is the question.
Red
Dog & Bates continues to be edited and worked
on.
I
look forward to my next adventure whether it's in television
or movies.
It's been wonderful so far and you never know what
the future will bring!
The movie business is an amazing, crazy, creative business
and always keeps a person on one's toes and always ready for
changes…That's show biz!
